Lavandula (Lavender)
Lavandula, more commonly known as English Lavender, is a beautifully scented evergreen shrub with a compact, upright habit that will suit any size of garden. In summer, richly fragrant purple flowers will appear in conical clusters, against a backdrop of aromatic green foliage. Each flower will also attract bees, butterflies and other pollinators.
Lavender is prized for its many uses in aromatherapy, with its signature soothing scent that aids in reducing stress and anxiety. It also repels many insects, such as fleas, moths or mosquitoes. When used for cooking, the floral low notes uplift and compliment rich, fatty foods, and go well with fruit, sorbets and baked goods.
You can use the cut stems, fresh or dried, for gorgeous flower arrangements, or use the blooms and leaves to make DIY potpourri that will make your home smell wonderful.
